Crown Innovation is a subcontractor to Leidos on the National Airspace System (NAS) Integration Support Contract (NISC III) providing support to the FAA for the ongoing maintenance, upkeep and enhancement of the NAS through transition, integration, and implementation of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) NAS modernization and support programs, including the Capital Investment Plan (CIP) and successor plans.

Crown Innovation supports the voice switch development and qualification by providing a chief engineer level system engineering professional who is an acknowledged subject matter expert on VoIP switches to provide architecture and system engineering support.

Crown Innovation supports the Airspace Support task which provides enhancement, development, and sustainment for the Sector Design & Analysis Tool (SDAT); Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) Builder; Special Activity Airspace Creator Editor (SAACE); and Central Altitude Reservation Function (CARF) tools.

Crown Innovation developed and maintained the Airport Safety Database (ASD) for five years. The ASD integrates airport safety incident data from a variety of sources to support airport safety initiatives.

Crown Innovation have been providing overall program and project management support for the UAS Center. The work entails direct program support to ODOT during execution of Advanced/Urban Air Mobility (A/UAM) related projects and demonstrations.

Crown Innovation supported Raptor Maps in program management of FAA certification documentation, specifically multiple Concept of Operations and Safety Risk Assessments.

Crown Innovation helped pioneer the medical package delivery use case, and continues to set precedents in BVLOS operations and novel use cases such as bridge inspections, construction site surveillance, and environmental surveys. Crown Innovation has brought high-visibility events to NC, such as the first flight of the EHang EH-216 aircraft in the US. 

Crown Innovation has evaluated over 100 UAS user requests; completed the development of 3 SRM evaluations resulting in policy and procedural changes; completed 3 UAS integration SOPs and responded to 2 FOIA requests.

Crown designs and constructs replacement communications towers for this mission-critical FAA infrastructure program.

Crown supports the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service with maintenance and logistics support for critical radio transmitters and related equipment.
