Crown developed and maintained the Airport Safety Database (ASD) for five years. The ASD integrates airport safety incident data from a variety of sources to support airport safety initiatives. This work expanded on our in-depth knowledge of FAA Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) database and uses some of the same sources. However, its smaller audience allowed a focus on airport incidents and provided a platform for root cause analysis.
The focus of the Airport Safety Database and Analysis (ASDA) project was the collection and analysis of airport safety data. Data is analyzed to identify causal factors in incidents and accidents that have occurred on or near airports. Examination of the data will identify actual or potential risks related to incidents and accidents in those areas of the airport and will assist the Office of Airports in determining where to focus its future safety initiatives, support modification of standards requests, and other miscellaneous data inquiries from the Office of Airports.
