Crown is providing full life-cycle support to EIA’s Office of Energy Statistics (OES) to operate over 40 comprehensive survey programs that produce accurate, reliable, and timely results and cover the full spectrum of the coal, electric, liquid biofuels, petroleum, renewables, and natural gas industries.
bThis task has many stakeholders distributed across EIA, as well as industry respondents and users of EIA data. The team consists of data analysts, survey analysts, survey leads, quality analysts, energy subject matter experts, technical writers, system analysts, testing analysts, requirements analysts, and program, project, and task managers.
Crown staff works on virtually all phases of the survey operations process, from tracking and contacting delinquent survey-form respondents, to developing and maintaining analysis tools for the assurance of data quality, to producing final statistical reports for publication on EIA’s web site. The EIA website is the primary means by which EIA data products and information are disseminated. The data are used for policy planning and energy industry forecasting. The data are made available to the public through data files, presentations, and reports on the EIA web site. This includes work on such high-profile EIA products as the Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report, the Department’s only designated Principal Federal Economic Indicator and the Weekly Petroleum Supply Report, which provides current petroleum data to global financial markets.
Benefit to EIA: Since 1996, the Crown team has delivered approximately 270,000 survey cycles across weekly, monthly, and annual data publications – without once missing a delivery or publication deadline – leading to recognition as “Top Annual EIA” accomplishments for over two decades of support.
