The FAA is responsible for ensuring the safety of civil aviation in the United States and promoting aviation safety worldwide. It manages a network of airport towers, air route traffic control centers, and flight service stations, while also developing air traffic rules, allocating airspace usage, and overseeing security controls to meet national defense requirements. The Aviation System Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) outlines modernization programs and activities for the National Airspace System (NAS), supporting the transition to the Next Generation Air Transportation System.
Since 2018, Crown has supported the FAA through the Technical Support Services Contracts (TSSC) 3 and 4, providing project management, infrastructure modernization, and systems and equipment installation and testing at over 600 locations. The company also delivers health, environmental, engineering, and fire protection services.
