Crown Consulting Inc.

Glen Dyer serves as vice president, analysis and engineering for Crown Consulting Inc. In this role, he directs programs that supply management and engineering services to build, operate and maintain safety-critical Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) systems.

Dyer's team applies rigorous management and technical methods to build tools that process high volumes of diverse and complex data, ultimately providing FAA analysts the insights required to enable new National Airspace System (NAS) operations and improve the safety of existing operations.

Crown tools support FAA, NASA and the U.S. Department of Energy research using flight, geospatial, weather and human factors data and applies data mining, machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.

Dyer’s 30-plus year career as an engineer, program manager and executive spans leadership positions with Harris Corporation, ITT Industries, Exelis and Stanford Communications. His work with these companies helped modernize the NAS through concept development, system design, system simulation and analysis and, ultimately, implementation of keystone NextGen systems.

His notable achievements include managing the Automatic Dependent Surveillance- Broadcast (ADS-B) program from its initial award to ITT Industries through In-Service Decision and national deployment of infrastructure. The ADS-B program has been described as the keystone to NAS modernization, and the program was executed so flawlessly that the PMI highlighted it in its short series of government program successes.

Dyer was the principal investigator on the FAA’s Future Communications Study, an effort that led to recommendation of implementation of VDL Mode 2 (FAA’s DataComm program) and AeroMacs. He led development of NEXCOM MDR MDT software, NEXCOM MDR and NEXCOM RPDE ground infrastructure.

He received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Old Dominion University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, and is a certified Program Management Professional (PMP)®.
