Crown Consulting Inc.

David Budin serves as senior principal, vice president of business strategy for Crown Consulting Inc. He joined the company in 1994 as one of the original architects of its business structure and focus, a role he continues to play.

Budin was instrumental in formulating and implementing strategies to target Federal Aviation Administration and NASA markets in airspace and air traffic management. Building on long-standing business relationships at the U.S. Department of Energy, he led Crown’s business expansion into the Energy Information Administration (EIA), including creation of a joint venture that is now EIA’s largest small business provider of survey processing and data quality services.

Today, among a host of capture and proposal development activities, Budin collaborates with Crown’s chief technology officer and vice president for science and research to build a planning practice that assists local and state governments with setting and implementing a scalable path to advanced air mobility systems. The goal is to enable transportation planning agencies to make AAM systems an integral component of their intermodal transportation solutions.

Budin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from Cornell University.
