I am delighted to share good news with you on two awards to Crown – awards which I learned earlier today. Both awards will involve us in important programs and are the result of the hard work of many. Both of these contracts carry the promise of new business in new markets.

The first award, a four-year, prime contract with NASA Ames, will continue and broaden our existing support to both the Joint Planning and Development Office and NASA in technology program planning. Under it, we help the NASA Airspace Systems Program Office and the JPDO to create coordinated technology development initiatives to respond to requirements of the Next Generation Air Transportation System.

This contract represents one of the two pillars of our support to JPDO; the other is our current subcontract to Booz Allen Hamilton. Besides extending our work at JPDO, the contract strengthens our position to pursue new work at NASA Ames – an important objective of the business development activities of Bob Rosen and Jack Levine. Several of our Crown colleagues – such as Dr. Rosen and Mike Greene - contributed significantly to crafting the winning proposal, and deserve our thanks. Nevertheless, I must single out George Price for special praise. George worked tirelessly with a single-minded commitment to preparing a winning document. He devoted his nights and weekends to this effort and for that we all thank him.

The second award is a new task with the FAA's Technical Operations and Training Group. It will involve developing training policies for the FAA’s technical workforce. It also will involve assessing whether the degree programs of universities and technical colleges meet basic FAA competency requirements for training the technician workforce and thus qualify for FAA sponsorship support.

The FAA issued this task through an Office of Personnel Management Instructional Services Contract and plans to sponsor this work for at least two years. We have enlisted two new employees – Mr. Robert Long and Mr. Thomas Wood - to support the task. Both have distinguished service records with the FAA Technical Operations organization and will be assets to Crown.

I want to express my sincere appreciation to the entire Crown Team for their contributions to these two wins.
